Miterbox: the back office of a small trade shop, built inside one.

Miterbox is the set of tools I built for Miter & Lathe, a custom carpentry shop in Northeast Ohio: a morning board for the day's tasks, crew hours from a phone, job costs and purchases, and an inbox for new customer inquiries. I am now opening it to a few other small shops.

Built by Mike Kerchenski, Hurrah.dev, Aurora, Ohio.

What it does

The morning board

Every open task, in one queue per person, plus an Unassigned column. Drag a task to whoever is doing it today, then text each person a link to their own list.

The inbox

Type or paste everything on your mind, one line each, then sweep each line onto a job, a person or a store. The name Miterbox started here.

Crew hours from a phone

Each person enters hours against a job in quarter hours, for today or the past week. You see and correct everyone's week on one screen.

Purchases and job costs

Log a material or subcontractor purchase against a job with its receipt. Each job keeps a running cost sheet: labor at cost and at bill rate, materials and subs with your markup, and a total to date you can export.

Store lists

A shopping list per store you buy from. Anyone on the crew adds to it; whoever is at the store checks items off.

Customer inquiries

A form on your website that lands in one inbox, with call, text and email buttons. Each morning you get a text or email with yesterday's new inquiries and today's booked calls.

Job templates

Start a job from a template and its standard tasks are already on the board.

It runs in a phone's browser and installs to the home screen. Sign-in is a code by text or email; there are no passwords.

Built for one shop first

Paul Kerchenski runs Miter & Lathe. I built these tools for his shop in 2026, around how he actually works, and the board is what he works from each day. Paul runs the shop on his own right now, so the crew features (per-person lists, texting the crew, team hours) are built and in place but have not yet been used by a crew.

Price

$149 a month per shop. Flat. Unlimited crew. No per-user fees.

Founding shops: $99 a month, locked for as long as you stay.

Reserve a founding spot with a refundable $99 deposit. Founding shops onboard in order. If the product does not launch, every deposit is refunded. Your deposit becomes your first month.

Each founding shop gets its own copy, set up by hand with your shop's name, your stores and your crew.

Payment is through Stripe. You will be asked for your shop's name.

Not ready to pay? Tell me about your shop.

A few questions, so I know who is asking. I'll reply within 24 hours.

Questions

Not yet. Miterbox runs at one shop today. It opens to more shops if enough of them reserve a founding spot.

No. Paul uses it on his own today. The crew features are there when you hire.

Email info@hurrah.dev before your shop is onboarded and the deposit is refunded in full. If the product does not launch, every deposit is refunded without you asking.

Then it is a custom build, and that runs on the Hurrah subscription. The pricing section of the home page has the details.

You do. If you leave, you get a full export of it.
